Sunday the 14th May
We are embarking on a nine week journey through France, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Italy and back to France again.
This has all been organized by our friend Kevin ( he and his wife Val were the ones responsible for getting us in to Caravaning over 10 years ago !)
We set off towards Dover just after midday as planned, and after a trouble free journey we arrived at the port at 3.30pm.
En route we had received a call from Kev and Val to say they had got there early and managed to get the earlier ferry so they would see us at the campsite in Belgium.
So we wave goodbye to the white cliffs and start the next leg of our adventure.
After a quick drive through France we arrived at Jabbeke in Belgium for our overnight stop before heading to Germany and the Rhine, where we are planning to stay for 3 nights.
After a good days drive we arrived at Oberwesel on the banks of the Rhine.
So far we are not very impressed with Mr Heard’s planning, all we have at this site is a pitch right on the river bank and a castle on the hill behind, I suppose we will just have to put up with it, and hope it gets better later.
I did try a quick dip but to say it was cold would be an understatement!
Whilst Kev and Val were having their afternoon nap we took a drive along the river to visit Rudesheim, a lovely place that looks like Walt Disney could have designed it.
A trip up in a cable car took us to a fantastic viewpoint with terrific vistas along the valley.
A great afternoon; now let’s go back to the van and see if K&V are awake, and maybe have tea and a game of Upwords .
Looks like you are having amazing weather, unlike us!!! Rain, Rain, Rain!!!

Didn’t realise you were off quite so soon! Definitely got the travel bug 🙂
The views over the Rhine look magnificent, couldn’t ask for much better than that could you.
Hopefully the weather will warm up a bit too. It’s raining here, has done since the weekend, but my grass is enjoying it at least.
Have fun.
